hello – we ARE still here

March 25, 2010

sorry we haven’t been in evidence much – but there’s been a lot going on. Between insane work schedules, a wonderful visit by a friend of ours from the Guard unit we used to be with, and getting ready to visit kids (that’s all my excuses) and surgery for others, reintegration… wow – we’ve been busy. Promise we’ll write something wonderful and special soon. Until then, don’t forget to go to the Congressional Military Family Caucus FB page, and get that application in to be at the Summit! There is still time.

Talk to you soon.

I’m not sure what your policy is for “guest authors”, but I did want to bring up HCR and the rumors flying around about its affect on TRICARE (http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,212553,00.html?wh=benefits).

I think it’s important to note what came up on NPR the other day:

“It turns out that people with TriCare won’t be affected by the new law, and that’s both good and bad.

It’s good in that if you have TriCare, it means that you won’t have to go out and buy any other insurance. TriCare is sufficient to cover the individual mandate that you have insurance.

It’s bad if you have an adult child who’s 24 or 25 — you won’t be able to keep them on your TriCare, because TriCare only covers dependents up to age 23. A lot of people are upset by that, and there’s already been a bill introduced in the House that would allow people on TriCare to keep their dependents on TriCare until age 26.” (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=125175160)
