A new Blog – from DoD!
I’ve been interested in the attempts to connect with families and troops that we see from DoD. It’s been a bit confusing, between Adm. Mullen being on Twitter and Facebook, and then the Marine Corps orders of NO Twitter and Facebook on official computers…. but then the DoD has always had a lot of different points of view, all apparent at the same time – somewhat confusing! But the latest, a blog from an editor of American Forces Press Service, could be useful. Here’s the Link – http://afps.dodlive.mil/ It’s called Family Matters, and promises to give us tips from experts and military related topics. I’m going to hope it’s NOT going to be a happy clappy, isn’t the military life “practically perfect in every way” (door prize for the one who knows that quote) We know it can be great, and it can suck.
The press release quotes the blog author as saying
“Our goal is to touch on topics that are important and relevant to military families,” said Elaine Wilson, the blog’s author and an editor for American Forces Press Service. “Military families confront unique challenges and issues, and we’re hoping people can turn to this blog for information and support.”
She’s been active duty, married to a member of the military, and then a divorced mother of two, juggling military life. I’ll be interested to see how this pans out.
